How to journal for pleasure - From thinking to embodied

How to journal the pleasurelit way for pleasure with pleasure, from thinking to embodied. Plus journal prompts for you to use for weekly and end of year journaling.

Before we talk about journaling… let’s land.

Take one slow breath in through your nose… and exhale through your mouth.

Journaling can be a pleasure practice.

Until now, you might have journaled from the head, to…

  • To analyse

  • To solve

  • To vent

  • To judge

  • To improve

That kind of journaling can be helpful… but it can also keep you stuck in thinking.

Pleasurelit journaling moves in the another direction.

It brings you into your body.

WHAT IS PLEASURELIT JOURNALING?

Pleasurelit journaling is about letting your body speak.

Key principles:

  • Sensation over story

  • Honesty over perfection

  • Slowness over “getting it done”

  • Curiosity over judgment

Your body already knows what it wants, what it needs, what it’s ready to release.

Journaling becomes a portal when you stop asking,

What should I write?

and start asking,

What do I feel?

You are functioning, but you are not feeling

You hold it all together - your life, career, motherhood, relationships. You keep pushing, managing, and people pleasing. A life on autopilot. Underneath all of it, you ask yourself: is this really it? Your mind rarely stops, you move from one thing to another, rest makes you uncomfortable. Your sleep is broken, your digestion is off, and your mood is unpredictable. Your nervous system is stuck in a survival state. Your body has forgotten how to feel safe, how to soften, to receive, and how to feel good.

What is missing isn't more effort. What is missing is somatic pleasure.

I'm Patricia. I was the good girl, the caretaker, the independent one who looked fine from the outside. I survived abuse, an ED, and a DV marriage. I functioned without actually feeling anything. The shift came when I stopped trying to understand my patterns and started reconnecting to my body. Somatic pleasure changed everything - in my life, motherhood, business, and relationships.

I am the founder of Pleasurelit®, the bestselling author of The Pleasurelit Way, host of the top 5% global podcast Pleasurelit with Patricia and an award winning pleasure explorer and educator. My trauma-informed somatic pleasure alchemy blends somatic healing, nervous system regulation, tantra, breathwork, yoga, and embodied pleasure.

I guide women from high-functioning to feeling radiant, regulated & deliciously turned on.

BENEFITS OF JOURNALING FOR PLEASURE

When journaling is pleasure-led, it does powerful things.

  • Regulates the nervous system

  • Builds safety in the body

  • Increases self-trust

  • Reconnects you to your desires

  • Softens numbness

  • Helps integrate emotions instead of suppressing them

  • Strengthens your ability to receive

Pleasure grows where attention goes. It is an energy.

And journaling is attention in slow motion. Its intentional - which is also a portal to pleasurelit.

HOW TO TURN JOURNALING INTO A PLEASURELIT PRACTICE

Get a specific journal just for your pleasurelit journey. Maybe it looks a certain way, feels or smells a certain what that already activates your pleasurelit energy.

Step 1: Set the scene
  • Light a candle

  • Make a delicious tea

  • Sit comfortably, wear something that activates your energy

  • Music, scent

Step 2: Drop out of the head into your body

Before writing…

  • Put one hand on your body & breathe deeply to land and ground

  • 3 conscious breaths

  • Movement

  • Self-touch

Then begin writing without thinking.

Step 3: Write from sensation

Start sentences with:

  • Right now, my body feels…

  • The sensation I notice most is…

  • My breath feels…

  • My chest / belly / hips feel…

Let it be messy, vulnerable, raw.

Let it be real.

Step 4: Close

Close your journal. Place a hand on your body. Thank yourself for listening.

  • This year, my body learned…

  • Moments where I felt most alive were…

  • Where did I override my body’s yes or no?

  • What drained my pleasure this year?

  • What nourished my pleasure?

  • What am I grateful for?

  • What am I ready to leave behind?

  • What am I going to invite more off moving forward?
