Somatic Self-pleasure for Women: Nervous System Regulation, Healing and Feminine Embodiment
Discover how somatic self-pleasure for women supports their nervous system regulation, emotional healing, self-love, feminine energy and embodiment, so they can feel more alive & turned on.
Patricia P
In this episode, I explore somatic self-pleasure for women as a practice of nervous system regulation, self-love, healing, and feminine embodiment. Learn how somatic pleasure can help you feel more connected to your body, expand your capacity for pleasure and reconnect with your desire, aliveness and feminine energy. You can even harness that energy to manifest your deepest desires with pleasure.
It was recorded straight after my self-pleasure session, you might feel this in my energy.
What Makes It Somatic
Soma means body. Somatic self-pleasure means you are in your body while it’s happening, not managing it from your head, not performing for an audience, not chasing a goal. You are present. You are feeling.
That distinction sounds simple, but for most women it’s a genuine practice. Years of being in your head during intimacy, of going through the motions, of touching yourself while your mind is somewhere else entirely, those patterns don’t dissolve on their own. Somatic self-pleasure is what begins to dissolve them.
You can’t think your way into felt pleasure. You can’t perform your way there either. It has to be sensed, and sensing requires safety in the body first.
The Nervous System Connection no one talks about
When a woman regulates her nervous system, she gets turned on.
Desire surfaces when your body finally feels safe enough to want things. This is why women on a healing journey often go through a phase of feeling almost asexual, and then suddenly feel their aliveness returning. The nervous system finally has enough safety to let pleasure in.
Oxytocin is released during pleasure, peaking at orgasm, and it directly lowers cortisol. It means somatic self-pleasure is a physiologically grounded nervous system regulation tool.
Your Female Cycle and Desire
Desire is not constant. My own self-pleasure practice shifts across my cycle. Leading up to ovulation, I’m more curious, more playful, more ready to explore. Moving toward my bleed, I want slower, more emotionally nourishing contact. During my period, it depends entirely on what my body is asking for. Stress also contracts my desire.
There is no schedule. There is only the question: what does my body need right now?
Somatic Self-pleasure
It begins before you ever touch yourself.
Movement. Breath. Sound. Slowing down enough to land in your body rather than arrive in your bedroom already somewhere else. The practice might start with a hand on your heart and your womb space. It might start with breath and a full body exhale.
The invitation before anything else is: what do I need? What do I desire? How can I nourish myself right now?
Then you follow what arises, without a destination. The goal is not orgasm. The goal is presence. And from presence, pleasure opens.
I also speak to the body as a whole connected system. Your throat is connected to your vulva. When you suppress your voice, you suppress your pleasure energy. When you reclaim your voice, when you learn to speak your desires and set your boundaries, you also begin to reclaim your erotic aliveness. The breasts and heart are in this too. Everything is connected.
Pleasure Magic: Manifesting Through Your Body
I share a practice I call pleasure magic, drawing from sex magic traditions and somatic pleasure work. When you are in a pleasurable state, your nervous system is open and receptive. That is the moment to hold your vision, your desires, your future self.
Not to visualise from a place of survival and need, but to embody that future version of yourself through all your five senses while you are already in pleasure. Your body experiences it as real. Your nervous system registers: this is safe to receive.
It’s different from affirmations or mindset work precisely because the body is involved.

Manifesting what you want is only one part of it though. Expanding your capacity to actually receive and hold that much pleasure, that much abundance, that much aliveness, is the deeper work. That is what I take women through inside the Pleasurelit Woman program.
Self-Pleasure as Ritual
Call it meditation. Call it ritual. Call it somatic self-care. It is all of those things. It is also emotional regulation. I mention an earlier episode where a ball hit me in the face, I alchemised that grief, pain and hurt into pleasure through somatic practices and embodiment. That is the Pleasurelit Alchemy process in real time: moving from disconnection, through regulation, into rewiring, reclamation and radiance.
Somatic self-pleasure is a portal. One of many. And every portal you open widens your capacity for pleasure in your whole life, not just the bedroom.
